Chapters 5 & 6: Industrialization and Urbanization (1865 - 1901)
Following the Civil War the United States saw growth in both industrialization and urbanization. Cheap labor, new technology, government policies, and an abundance of raw materials merged and allowed for growth to take place. With an increase in opportunities, immigration quickly rose, forever changing the make-up of the United States.
Throughout these chapters the following topics will be addressed: The Rise of Industry, The Railroads, Big Business, Unions, Immigration, Urbanization, The Gilded Age, Populism, and The Rise of Segregation.
